Our Ambassadors

The PIVOTPoint Ambassador Program amplifies our mission and advocates for change. At PIVOTPoint, our community is filled with brave, compassionate humans who believe in the power of connection and adventure to heal. Our Ambassadors are more than supporters – they’re storytellers, advocates, and connectors. They use their voice, networks, and lived experiences to elevate our mission: expanding access to nationally accredited, adventure-based programming for youth and young adults navigating challenges with mental health, behavioral health, and substance use. Ambassadors stand with the individuals we serve. They amplify our impact, rally their communities, and speak up in support of what we do – helping us go further, faster, together.

Ginny Hunneke

Ambassador

Ginny Hunneke is passionate about substance abuse prevention and recovery, and helped lead statewide efforts as
a board member for Drug-Free NC (now Insight Human Services). Locally, she has served on the boards of Rainbow
Mountain School, and The Odyssey Community School (of which she was a founder, board chair, and faculty
member), as well as St. Luke’s Episcopal Church as vestry member and senior warden. Still an active member of
RiverLink, Ginny launched its volunteer program in 2001.

Ginny Hunneke shares with PIVOTPoint her personal and professional experience in addictions recovery and as an
educator. Now retired, Ginny spent years working to support people in early recovery from substance abuse to
experience joy in the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle.

As an Ambassador for PIVOTPoint, she is enthusiastic about encouraging
the integration of outdoors activities in cultivating joy and purpose among at-risk youths, assisting them in their
transformation to healthy adults.

What It Is
The PIVOTPoint Ambassador Program is a small, invitation-only group of trusted supporters who deeply believe in the mission and want to share it beyond our immediate region. These ambassadors are not casual volunteers—they’re committed advocates who actively engage with the organization’s direction and growth.

What It Does
It creates a meaningful connection between our internal work and national communities by equipping ambassadors to speak to PIVOTPoint’s impact with clarity and confidence. Through structured meetings and shared resources, they help extend our reach into new networks and geographies.

How It Benefits the Ambassadors
Ambassadors gain deeper access to our programs, our outcomes, and our evolving strategy, becoming true stakeholders in the work. They’re part of a tight-knit group that meets regularly, contributes ideas, and participates in retreats exploring new ways to create change.

How They Benefit PIVOTPoint
Ambassadors expand our visibility in places we can’t reach on our own, creating warm handoffs to new supporters, funders, and partners. Their personal investment brings credibility and context to our story, allowing us to move faster and farther with trust.

How This Helps the Kids We Serve
Through increased visibility and strategic connections, ambassadors help unlock financial and resource support that directly sustains our nature-based programming. Their involvement allows more youth to access the tools and experiences they need to reflect, reset, and re-engage with their lives.
